Scott Knoer, MS, PharmD, FASHP is the Chief Pharmacy Officer at the Cleveland Clinic where he leads the pharmacy enterprise which includes a billion dollar drug budget and 1,240 FTEs in 14 hospitals with clinics and research facilities in Ohio, Florida, Nevada, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, London, England, and Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Dr. Knoer received his BA in psychology from Creighton University and his PharmD from the University of Nebraska. He completed a two year administrative residency and received an MS degree in hospital pharmacy from the University of Kansas.
Dr. Knoer serves as Contributing Editor for Pharmacy Practice Management for the American Journal of Health-System Pharmacists (AJHP) where he coordinates the CPO Perspectives column. He is a Past Chair of the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Practice Managers. Dr. Knoer is currently the Vice-Chair of the Vizient Pharmacy Council (formerly the University Health‐System Consortium).
Dr. Knoer has published numerous articles and chapters on a variety of pharmacy and leadership topics. He is a frequent invited lecturer to local, state, national and international audiences in the United States, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Italy and Japan.
Dr. Knoer is an advocate for lower drug prices. He has been quoted broadly by the national media in the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time Magazine, Newsweek, the Boston Globe, NPR, CNBC, and other outlets. He was recognized for his advocacy by ASHP with their Board of Director’s Award of Excellence in 2017.
